I just wanted to take a quick second to talk about the amazing performance that Kendl had at the South Regional this past weekend. If you haven’t been following us on Instagram or Facebook, go check it out to see some snapshots of Kendl on each of the workouts. She had a great weekend, starting off with a 19th and 16th finish in events 1 and 2 respectively. At the call of 3,2,1… go, Kendl picked up the bar to start her 75 power snatches on “Randy” and hardly put it down as she sprinted through her event in 3:11 – first in her heat! Her mental game was on point as she attacked the rope climbs (27 of them!) on “Tommy V”. With forearms already on fire and her grip feeling uneasy, she charged forward and smashed her practice time. It was so incredible to watch!

Day 2 started with a grueling chipper that began with a 1 mile run on a true form treadmill. The true form treadmill does not have a motor and is controlled purely by the movements and force of each athlete using it. Kendl’s first time using one was this weekend, and she approached it with a focused and poised demeanor. After the run, heavy OHS, GHD sit ups, double unders, and heavy sumo deadlift high pulls awaited her. She chipped away at each movement with strength and determination and ended the event in 24th. The second event of the day began with a handstand walk for time and a 1 rep max snatch. Both of these events are near identical to last year, making it easy to compare year over year progress. She was able to walk further on her hands than last year and got a PR on her Snatch!

Day 3 brought more gymnastics movements – chest to bar, strict HSPU, and muscle ups. Kendl stayed calm and attacked each rep purposefully. She never once showed an ounce of frustration, but instead determination and focus. Overall she finished in 29th place out of 49! It was so fun and inspiring to watch her compete alongside the South Region’s strongest female athletes. The progress and determination she put forth compared to last year is unmeasurable, and this girl showed her heart and soul out there on the floor. Great job Kendl, and all the women of the South Regional, you are amazing!
